How many winners will there be?
There are seven prizes, and so there will be seven winners.

How will you announce the winners and when?
We’ll announce the winners in early January 2025 and will notify them via email or phone. The winners will also receive a special catalog, with the notification of their prize as a letter in the catalog.

Suppose I win one of the programs, but I have already taken it or don’t want to go on that particular program?
If you don’t want to attend the program you win, we’ll give you a voucher equal to the value of that prize, and you may apply it to any Road Scholar program of your choice. 

What if I am not physically able to participate in the program I win?
If you aren’t physically capable of participating in the program you win, we’ll give you a voucher equal to the value of that prize and you may apply it to any Road Scholar program of your choice. 

Who is eligible to participate?
Road Scholar’s Great Global Giveaway is open to residents of the United States who are 50 and older.

How do I enter?
Any legal resident of the United States ago 50 or over who is already on Road Scholar’s active mailing list, who joins the mailing list or is added to the list by a friend during the giveaway period will be automatically entered into the giveaway. Additionally, anyone on the mailing list who adds eligible friends and family members to Road Scholar’s mailing list during the giveaway period will be automatically entered into the giveaway for each successful referral. To be successful, the person referred must not already be on Road Scholar’s list.

If I win, will I have to travel in 2025?
No, you will have two years from the date of notification to attend the program you win, or a substitute if you so elect. If you haven’t traveled on your program within that period, you will forfeit your prize.

What are the program prizes and their value?
Here are the seven prizes and their approximate values. The prize amounts are based on two people traveling and staying together in a double-occupancy room, including airfare from a major gateway airport: African Safari: A Close-up on Wildlife ($13,500); “Land Ho!” Icebergs and Penguins in Otherworldly Antarctica ($25,000); The People of the Mekong: Vietnam, Cambodia and Angkor Wat ($10,000), Discover a Land Down Under: Melbourne, Adelaide & Sydney ($12,000); French Art Voyage: Paris, the Rhône and the French Riviera ($13,000); The Best of the Grand Tetons to Banff: Iconic National Parks ($13,500); South American Odyssey: Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Machu Picchu & More ($17,500).

Terms & Conditions

Eligibility: Road Scholar’s Great Global Giveaway is open to all individuals age 50 and older who are legal residents of the United States. Employees, agents and affiliates of Road Scholar, as well as their immediate family members, are not eligible to participate in the giveaway.

Giveaway Period: The giveaway begins on January 1, 2024, and ends on November 1, 2024. All entries made within this period will be eligible for the giveaway.

Costs of attending the program beyond those included in the program’s price and round-trip airfare are the responsibility of the winner.

Grand Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash, except that winners may elect to receive the value of their prize in the form of a voucher to apply to a different Road Scholar program.  Road Scholar reserves the right to substitute a Grand Prize with an item of equal or greater value in the event that Grand Prize program becomes unavailable for any reason. Grand Prize winners are responsible for any federal, state or local income taxes assessed on their prize, and must provide Road Scholar their social security number to claim their prize.  Grand Prize winners will be issued an IRS 1099 tax form for the actual value of the Grand Prize.  

Winner Selection, Notification & Use of Prize: Grand Prize winners will be selected at random from all the entries received.  Grand Prize winners will be notified via email or phone within five (5) business days after the end of the giveaway period. Grand Prize programs, or alternative programs if elected, must be attended within two years of being notified as a winner.  Prizes or vouchers not used by the second anniversary of being notified a winner will expire.  

Publicity Release: By participating in the giveaway, entrants agree to grant Road Scholar the right to use their names, likenesses and testimonials for advertising and promotional purposes without any additional compensation or permission.

General Conditions: Road Scholar reserves the right to disqualify any participant found to be in violation of these terms and conditions or involved in fraudulent activities. Road Scholar is not responsible for any technical malfunctions, errors or delays that may occur during the giveaway period. The decisions made by Road Scholar regarding the giveaway and the selection of winners are final and binding. Road Scholar reserves the right to modify, suspend or terminate the giveaway at any time for any reason without prior notice.

Privacy: Road Scholar will collect and may use entrants’ name, city or town and home state for the purpose of administering the giveaway and for marketing and promotional purposes, as outlined in the Road Scholar Privacy Policy.

Release and Indemnification: By participating in the giveaway, participants agree to release and hold harmless Road Scholar, its affiliates and their respective directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability arising from their participation in the giveaway or acceptance and use of the prize.
