What is the Road Scholar Connection?
Road Scholar Connection is a social networking tool to help you connect
with other members of the Road Scholar community.
How do I find the Road Scholar Connection?
Go to
http://www.roadscholar.org/. If you have a Road Scholar account, log in.
If not, click on the "Join our Social Network" link on the left side of the home page in the "Get Involved" section, and follow the instructions to create an account.
How do I sign up for the Road Scholar Connection?
Log in to your Road Scholar account. You will see a message telling you
that you are not yet a member of the Road Scholar Connection. Just
click to become a member!
How do I create my Road Scholar Connection profile?
When you first join the Road Scholar Connection, you will be asked
what information you would like to share with other members. Fill out
whatever parts of this personal profile you choose to.
How does my profile page work?
Once you’ve answered the profile questions and clicked "Yes, I’d like
to join" you will be taken to your profile page.
In the top left corner, you will see a space for a photo; your messages;
groups you have joined; and your friends.
Along the top of the page, you will see a navigation bar with several
options.
In the middle of the page, you will see the "What’s new?" section
and, above it, a space to answer just that question: what is new with
you that you would like to share with other members of the Road Scholar
Connection?
How do I add a profile picture?
Click on "Edit your profile" then click on "Change/upload your profile
picture" You can upload any photo from your computer, as long as
it’s a jpg, jpeg, png, or gif file. If you want to delete your photo at any
time, just go back to the "Edit your profile" page and click on "Delete
your profile picture."

How do I use the navigation bar?
While you are on the Road Scholar Connection, along the top of the
page you will always see a navigation bar with several options. They
are:
Road Scholar Connection - click to see all the groups that you can be
a part of as a member of the Road Scholar Connection
recent POSTS - click to see what conversations are going
on right now on the group pages, this will show you the most
recent posts on all groups
find TOPICS - click and then enter any term in the search box
to find a discussion topic related to it
find GROUPS - click and then enter any term in the search
box to find a group related to it
find PEOPLE - click and then enter a person’s name in the
search box to find them on the Road Scholar Connection
my PROFILE - click to return to your profile page from any part
of the Road Scholar Connection
How do I interact with Road Scholar Connection groups?
Click on the blue "Road Scholar Connection" in the navigation bar to see
all the groups that you can join. Click on the name of any group to
see what topics people are discussing. If you’d like to participate in
discussions in that group, become a member by clicking "Join this
group"
Once you are a member of a group, you can:
- Reply to discussion topics created by other members
- Create a new discussion topic
- See other members of the group
- Submit pictures or short movie clips
How do I make friends?
The Road Scholar Connection is all about interacting with other lifelong
learners who share your interests. You can find people on the Road Scholar
Connection by using the find PEOPLE tab on the navigation bar
to search for them by name. But you can also find people who share
your interests through groups that you are a part of or programs that
you are enrolled in.
To become friends with another member of the Road Scholar Connection,
click on his/her name to go to his profile page. Click on the envelope
icon below his/her profile picture to send him/her a personal
message. Click on the silhouette icon below his/her profile picture to
become friends.
How do I find out what people are saying about a program?
Once you’re a member of the Road Scholar Connection, you can
continue to browse
http://www.roadscholar.org/ to look for programs as you
normally would. But now you can click on the "Road Scholar Connection"
icon to discuss the program with other people who have been
on that program or are considering enrolling.
How can I meet people on my program?
How can I meet people on my program?
When you enroll in a Road Scholar program, you will become a member
of the program group that corresponds to that program and date
on the Road Scholar Connection. As a member, you will be able to see,
have conversations and become friend with fellow participants.
How do I post my Road Scholar photos and videos?
On Road Scholar Connection pages for groups and programs of which
you are a member, you will see a link that says Click here to submit
a picture or a short movie clip!
Once you click, you can upload any photo from your computer (as
long as it’s a jpg, jpeg, png, or gif file) and add a caption.
To add a video, the video must already be posted on a video hosting
website like YouTube or Vimeo. Click on the Instructions link in the
Upload a video section for step-by-step instructions on how to post
your video to the Road Scholar Connection.
