Arrive To: Check-in. Proceed to meeting room for registration and receipt of program folder that contains the most current itinerary.

Evening: Get to know the staff and other participants. Overview of program and facilities.

Day Two: Monday, April 08 - Eckerd College Waterfront Program/Sailing 
Breakfast: Hotel Dining Room.

Morning: Begin the day with an introduction to and tour of the Waterfront Program of Eckerd College. Discuss the proper attire for the program, and what to do in case of bad weather. Materials will be distributed, you'll learn about the types of boats that are going to be used and about general safety around the waterfront and while on the boats. During the lecture you will learn about sailing terminology, wind direction, points of sail and tacking. After a short refreshment break, go dockside for a class on knots and rigging and the parts of the Colgate Day-sailer that will be a part of your learning experience.

Lunch: Main Cafeteria on Eckerd Campus

Afternoon: Spend the afternoon sailing (approximately 3 hours). You'll get the feel of the helm and learn about Skipper crew placement. You'll learn how to determine where the wind is coming from, and concentrate on sail trim and tacking. A debrief will take place after sailing and then you'll head back to the hotel for dinner.

Dinner: Hotel dining room

Evening: Each evening will feature either a lecture in conjunction with the course, a presentation, a movie or entertainment by a local artist.

Day Three: Tuesday, April 09 - Waterfront sailing and lectures 
Breakfast: Hotel Dining Room.

Morning: Jibe that sail! Flick that rope! Lectures to include learning how to manuever downwind with jibing, sailing, heaving and flicking. There will be a short refreshment break mid-morning. Rig boats before lunch.

Lunch: Main Cafeteria on Eckerd Campus

Afternoon: Start the afternoon with a short video that describes "Points of Sail". Lectures will cover docking and shortening the sail. The group will then be divided in two and rotate learning about Marlinspike (knots, heaving and flicking) and docking practice. Once dockside you'll learn more about reefing and derigging. A debrief will take place after sailing and then you'll head back to the hotel for dinner.

Evening: Each evening will feature either a lecture in conjunction with the course, a presentation, a movie or entertainment by a local artist.

Breakfast: Hotel Dining Room.

Morning: Take a break from sailing and visit a local sail loft and marine outfitter.

Lunch: Main Cafeteria on Eckerd Campus

Afternoon: Today's lecture will consist of reviewing old material and then learning about the various aspects of anchoring. Spend the afternoon sailing (approximately 3 hours). Learn about anchoring, sail trim and reefing. A debrief will take place after sailing and then you'll head back to the hotel for dinner.

Dinner: Hotel Dining Room.

Evening: Each evening will feature either a lecture in conjunction with the course, a presentation, a movie or entertainment by a local artist.

Morning: Learn about: (1) Safety and Rules of the Road (2) Charts and Piloting / latitude & longitude; determining distance (3) Right of Way / Man Overboard Recovery

Lunch: Main Cafeteria on Eckerd Campus

Afternoon: Start with practicing MOB with a life jacket. Then, spend the afternoon sailing (approximately 3 hours). A debrief will take place after sailing and then you'll head back to the hotel for dinner.

Dinner: Hotel Dining Room.

Evening: Each evening will feature either a lecture in conjunction with the course, a presentation, a movie or entertainment by a local artist.

Day Six: Friday, April 12 -  
Breakfast: Hotel Dining Room.

Morning: End the week with a morning sail.

Lunch: Hotel dining room. Program concludes with lunch today.
