The Best of Cuba: From Viñales Valley to Habana Vieja

After you enroll, we’ll ask you to provide or update your personal information and preferences, which includes your health information, lodging and meal preferences for your program.

In order to comply with regulations set forth by the U.S. government, we will include a Proof of Compliance document with the Final mailing. Road Scholar programs to Cuba are designed to comply with the ‘Support for Cuban People’ general license category (§ 515.574), of which you will select from the 11 permitted categories of travel when checking in with your airline. Even though all Road Scholar Cuba itineraries include approved activities only, the U.S. government has the right to request receipts and records from your Cuba visit for up to 5 years after your return. It is the responsibility of the traveler to track and record their activities and interactions with Cuban people, and to keep this document for 5 years. This document, included at the end of your Final Information Packet, will help you do so and can be used as an archival resource. We have designed it so that you may add any modifications or notes to further document activities that support the Cuban people. Please keep alongside your valuable documents and complete with your notes throughout the program. The Group Leader will have limited spare copies in case of any misplacements. Please note that this form is an unofficial document and that one form is suitable for a household, please add all participating names at the top.

A passport is required for this program. It must be valid for at least 6 months after your return date.

This information about travel documents pertains to participants holding U.S. passports. Non-U.S. citizens should refer to their country's requirements to ensure they have the necessary documentation for travel.

Cuba

• Your passport must have 2 blank passport page(s) for entry/exit visas in this country.

• A travel visa is required and it must be obtained in advance.

• This visa is included in the cost of your trip.

• You’ll receive detailed information about your required entry documents in the information packet we send after you enroll.

Please note: Travelers must fill out a Declaration/Medical Form within 7 days of departure for Cuba. The form must be completed online PRIOR to check-in at the airport. The form becomes available 7 days prior to your departure and is easiest to complete on a computer. https://www.dviajeros.mitrans.gob.cu/inicio. Once you have successfully completed the online form, you will receive a QR code. Print this QR code and carry it with you. (You can also save the QR code to your cell phone.) You will need to show this QR code to the agent when you check in for your flight and when you arrive in Havana. Your Cuban tourist card (visa) is included in on this program and will be given to you during the Orientation Meeting in Miami. You will need to hold on to this Visa for the entirety of your stay in Cuba and present it upon departure.

Meet the group at Hilton Miami Airport Blue Lagoon in Miami

Start of Trip:  3:00 p.m. hotel check-in; Day 2 morning Orientation.

Getting to the site: The Hilton Miami Airport Blue Lagoon offers a complimentary airport shuttle to all guests that runs every half hour, on the hour from 5:00 am to 12:30 am. End of Trip: After group flight arrival at Miami International Airport.

Getting to the airport: A group transfer from the hotel to the airport is scheduled for all participants. We estimate that the flight from Havana to Miami will arrive around 1:00. It will take time in Miami to walk from the plane to the customs area and there is always a wait to clear customs. Miami is a large congested airport so it will take time to reach onward connecting flights. Therefore we recommend that onward flights be booked at 4:00 or later. PLEASE NOTE: Flight times are subject to change at any time; Road Scholar has no control over these changes.

Information if you are purchasing your own airfare: Participants who have not purchased airfare through Road Scholar are responsible for making their own transfer arrangements to the first site at the beginning of the program, as well as from the last site at the end of the program. The Information Packet Road Scholar sends in advance of the program includes details needed to make your transfer arrangements. Participants who have purchased Road Scholar airfare are protected against airline change fees; however, anyone who has not purchased Road Scholar airfare will be required to make their own adjustments and may incur fees imposed by the airline.
